Advanced EMI Tubing Inspection
Detecting Flaws. Defending Production.
At JEC Tubing Testers, our EMI tubing inspection (Electromagnetic Induction) is the frontline defense against downhole tubing failure. By utilizing state-of-the-art EMI technology, we provide non-destructive testing (NDT) that identifies internal and external flaws, pitting, and wall loss that are impossible to detect through visual inspection alone.
We specialize in scanning a wide range of oilfield tubulars, covering sizes from 2-3/8″ through 4-1/2″.
EMI Tubing Scanning
Our Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) scanning is the industry standard for identifying internal and external flaws, pits, and wall loss. We offer specialized configurations to meet your specific completion type:
- Standard Scanning: High-speed flaw detection for production tubing.
- Specialized Scanning: Specialized “With Cable & Cap” services for ESP, CT Line, and Gas Lift applications.
Hydrostatic Testing
Verification of joint and body integrity under pressure is vital before a string goes into the hole. Our hydrostatic testing services provide real-time validation for tubing sizes 2-3/8″ to 5-1/2″, ensuring your well remains leak-free under maximum operating pressures.
Laydown Machine Services
Safety and efficiency are paramount during pipe movement. Our hydraulic laydown machines, equipped with precision pipe grabbers, eliminate manual handling risks and protect the threads and bodies of your tubing during pickup and laydown operations.
Specialized Scanning Capabilities
Not all tubing strings are created equal. JEC offers specialized equipment configurations to ensure an accurate EMI tubing inspection regardless of your completion type.
1. EMI Scanning with Cable & Cap
Complex completions require specialized handling. We provide precision scanning for strings equipped with external components, including:
ESP (Electric Submersible Pump) Lines
CT (Capillary) Lines
Gas Lift Applications
Our “With Cable & Cap” service ensures that the presence of external lines does not interfere with the integrity of the scan, providing you with a clear picture of the pipe’s condition without compromising the ancillary equipment.
2. Standard EMI Scanning (Without Cable)
For standard production or injection strings, our high-speed EMI units provide rapid, reliable data. This process allows for the quick identification of “yellow-band” or “red-band” joints, ensuring only the highest quality pipe returns to the hole.
Why Our EMI Process is Superior
A professional EMI tubing inspection from JEC provides more than just a pass/fail grade. We provide a detailed analysis of the string’s health.
- Transverse & Longitudinal Detection: We find cracks and flaws in all orientations.
- Wall Loss Monitoring: Our sensors detect thinning areas caused by corrosion or erosion.
- Size Versatility: We carry the necessary heads and slips to transition quickly between 2-3/8″, 2-7/8″, 3-1/2″, and 4-1/2″ tubing.
By catching defects on the surface, JEC helps you avoid the massive costs associated with parted strings, fishing jobs, and environmental remediation.
